Next Steps

Thank-you everyone for coming out to the meeting last Thursday.  Here is the summary of what needs to be completed over the next couple of weeks:

Passport - for those who do not have a passport, please apply for one immediately.  This will give you enough time to go through the application process and have the passport delivered to you well before the departure date.  This should be completed NLT 14 Feb.  If you already have a passport, please ensure that it has an expiry date of 6 months beyond our return date to Canada (1 Apr). 

Payment - Your $1500 trip fee will be due on 28 Feb.  Please make cheques out to the 2137 Calgary Highlanders Parent's Advisory Committee.  

Travel Insurance - We strongly recommend that all participants get travel insurance.  This will save everyone the hassle of medical treatment and costs and any unforeseen costs that may be incurred due to a medical emergency. 

Fundraising - As everyone is aware, this is an expensive trip and we strongly encourage all cadets to do some fundraising on their own.  The corps is currently looking into doing some Battlefield Tour specific fundraisers to help defray the cost.  Any monies raised will go towards lowering the total cost of the trip.  I am also encouraging all parents to speak with their employers for corporate donations.  I will have Maj Morris date and sign a copy of the 'Request for Funds' letter, which I will then scan and email to everyone for you to distribute.  

Jackets - Within the next couple of weeks, we will be fitting all the cadets and staff/chaperones with the Tour jackets.  Keep checking back here for when that will occur.
